There are several factors to consider when choosing a wedding date for your very special day. Try to keep these things in mind as you decide on the best wedding dates so there's minimal stress and the happy day is just that--happy!

• Location: Do you already have an idea about where you want to get married? Location can definitely impact picking a wedding date. Heading down to the Caribbean during hurricane season is probably not the best idea. Getting married at the beach is less likely in winter. If you have your heart set on a particular destination, it’s also a good idea to check out festivals and events that might make it more difficult to book a space and hotel rooms.        

• Season: Depending on where you live the seasons can have a big impact on how to pick a wedding date. Do you prefer winter wonderland or fall foliage? Ask yourself what you favorite season is and what aspects you want to incorporate into your wedding.

• Holidays: Some couples like the idea of getting married over a long weekend like Memorial Day or July 4th. There are pluses and minuses to getting hitched over a long weekend. On a positive note, people usually have time off and are able to travel if needed. However, travel over holiday weekends usually involves traffic. You should also consider that some people may want their holiday weekend for themselves and not for your wedding.

• Price: Summer is the busiest time for weddings and therefore venues and vendors are more expensive. Having your wedding off-season will probably get you a better deal. You may also save money by having your wedding on a Friday or Sunday instead of Saturday.

• Important Dates: Look at your calendars and see what big dates you have coming up. Best not to try to squeeze in your big day when you don’t have adequate time to prepare.
