Homemade Christmas Gifts

Be creative this holiday season, and treat family members to homemade Christmas gifts. Making a personalized present for everyone takes the pleasure of gift-giving to a whole new level!

Try some or all of these fantastic homemade Christmas gift ideas for the whole family:

  • Christmas CD: Make your own Christmas CD mix for family and friends. Base your selection of songs on the preferences of the recipients. Include songs that are all instrumental for a certain number of Christmas CDs. Add fun songs, such as Rudolf the Red Nose Reindeer, to other, more casual CDs. Place the CDs in plastic, decorative cases for easy homemade Christmas gifts for Dad and others in the family.
  • Hair Pins: Make beautiful hair pins for the best homemade Christmas gifts for kids, especially little girls. Gather your supplies, which include glitter fabric paint, three velvet flower petals, two pearl beads, a needle and thread, two bobby pins with glue pads, and a hot glue gun. To start, place a drop of paint on each of the petals, and spread it out with your finger. Once dry, layer all of the petals on top of one another. Use the needle and thread to sew the pearls to the center of the petals, and also to hold the petals in place. Once complete, glue the petals with pearls to the pads on the bobby pins. Put the hair pins in decorative Christmas boxes with tissue paper, and hand them out for holiday gifts to mothers, daughters, aunts, cousins, grandmothers, and girlfriends.
  • Cinnamon Candle: Surprise family and friends with a sweet smelling cinnamon candle for the holidays. For each candle craft, gather a pillar candle (at least 3-inches in diameter), cinnamon sticks, scissors, a glue gun and a flat glass dish. Use a ruler to measure the height of the candle, and then cut the cinnamon sticks to the same size. Use the hot glue gun to put glue on a cinnamon stick, and adhere it, vertically, to the side of the pillar candle. Continue the process until all of the cinnamon sticks are on the candle. Place the candle on the glass dish in order to catch any wax drips. Present the candle as a gift in a box, or wrapped in tissue paper with ribbon tied around the top. Complement the candle with additional homemade food Christmas gifts, such as tea biscuits or jam in a jar.

Be creative and add your own special touch to the Christmas gift. Add a decorative element with a fancy bow, or a tag to name the giver and receiver. Need to invite family to your Christmas celebration this year? Try one of our free Christmas invitations!
